Some Great Hiking routes in Cape Town

Cape Town has some of the most beautiful scenery in the entire world, and what better way to discover our natural treasures than a hike through nature. Whether you are a regular hiker or you're just looking to get out into nature, Cape Town has something for everyone.

Lions Head
This hike is moderate and offers stunning views of the Atlantic Sea board and unforgetable sunsets. Lion's head is also very popular for full moon hikes and you'll often see camera flashes from the top if you look up to it at night. There are two ways to get up there, you can go via the chains, climbing the chains to get to the top, alternatively you can walk around.

Devils Peak
You start from Tafelberg Road, litteraly under the mountain, almost where the Cable Car Station is, it's quite a steep route up to the peak, but once you get there you will be rewarded with beautiful views of the city bustling below. This is not a super easy route, so probably not such a great walk for little children.

Deer Park
Deer park is a great little city secret and forms part of the Table Mountain nature reserve. An easy strole through the forrest takes you up the hill where you can get a good look at Table Mountain.

The Newlands contour path
This is one of the most beautiful hikes in the city, old trees stretching up into the sky and plenty of fresh. There are three ways to tackle this hike and each offers a different level of difficulty.

Sandy Bay
Sandy Bay is a fairly quiet beach trail between Llandudno and Hout Bay, see gorgeous ocean views and finish your hike with a dip in the blue Atlantic. Sandy Bay is a nude beach so keep this in mind if you are takign your kids along.
