A new year is all about doing new things and getting a fresh start so here are some of our top picks on what's happening Cape Town.   Kirstenbosch Summer Concerts The Kirstenbosch Summer concerts are one of the best ways to spend a Sunday afternoon and get yourself ready for the new work week.Furthermore, they show off some of the best local talents we have. Below are the bands playing and their dates for Jan.1 Jan - Mango Groove 8 Jan - Zonke Dikana 15 Jan - Matthew Mole/Jesse Clegg 22 Jan - The Cape Philharmonic Orchestra 29 Jan - LiraTickets for any of these concerts can be booked [here](http://www.webtickets.co.za/).   Cape Town Street Parade This is one of the most historic events that take place in Cape Town. It has been taking place since the mid-nineteenth century where slaves were given one day off to celebrate. Since then the Cape Minstrels have been performing in a festive parade through the streets of Cape Town. It is all taking place on the 2ndfrom 12 noon starting from Rose street in the Bo Kaap and ending off at the Grand Parade.   157th LOrmarins Queens Plate Taking place on the 5th and 6th of Jan, this is a glamorous event at which guests are asked to dress to impress in white or blue. Furthermore, it is held at Kenilworth Racecourse. Get your bets on or just enjoy a fancy day out with friends (over 18's only). Playing some of their best music this is definitely a night for your ears. Tickets start from R150.   Cinderella On Ice Now here is something for your eyes to enjoy. Celebrating this classic tale in their own way. This beautiful show is taking place at the Artscape Theatre from the 10th of Jan. With tickets starting from only R90, be sure not to miss out.   Up the Creek Festival Taking place just outside of Cape Town on the Breede river is this unique music festival. Lay on your lilo and enjoy some amazing bands while getting a tan (don't forget the sunblock). Furthermore, this event shows off some brilliant local talent as well as having delicious food around.
