What’s On in Cape Town in September 2025

Spring in Cape Town is a treat,  the air smells fresher, the city’s colours turn up a notch, and there’s a definite buzz about town. If you’re here this September, you’ve picked a brilliant month: from music and ballet to marathons and mouth-watering food, there’s no shortage of things to see, hear, taste and experience.

In this blog, we’ll cover:

  • Performing Arts & Culture: From large-scale music festivals to intimate ballet performances, Cape Town’s cultural calendar is in full swing.

  • Sport & Outdoor:  Rugby rivalries, scenic marathons and fitness challenges for all levels.

  • Conferences & Expos: Creative industries and networking opportunities take the spotlight.

Here’s your guide to what’s happening in the Mother City this month.

Spring on the West Coast

If you’re visiting in early to mid-September, you can’t miss the wildflower season along the West Coast. Just a short drive from Cape Town, the usually dry, sandy landscapes transform into a sea of vivid colour;  carpets of daisies, vygies, and arum lilies stretch to the horizon. The West Coast National Park is one of the best spots to take it all in, particularly the Postberg section, which is only open to the public during flower season. Other excellent reserves include the Darling Renosterveld Reserve, known for its unique endemic species, and Tienie Versfeld Wildflower Reserve, which offers stunning displays right on the edge of the charming town of Darling. Go mid-morning on a sunny day, when the blooms are at their most vibrant, and pack a picnic to enjoy among the fields.
