Family Entertainment

Disney On Ice: Mickey's Search Party

Disney On Ice visits South Africa infrequently, which makes this year's run at GrandWest a notable school holiday event. Mickey's Search Party combines ice skating, aerial acrobatics and live performance, drawing on characters and worlds from Coco, Moana, Beauty and the Beast, Frozen, Aladdin, Toy Story and The Little Mermaid.

Multiple daily time slots are available across the 10-day run. School holiday performances at GrandWest tend to book out quickly, so securing tickets in advance is recommended.

Theatre and Musical Comedy

Something Rotten!

For those who love theatre, this acclaimed Broadway musical comedy arrives in Cape Town after earning ten Tony Award nominations during its initial run. Set in 1590s London, the story follows Nick and Nigel Bottom, two struggling playwrights who are unable to compete with William Shakespeare's cultural dominance. Desperate for a breakthrough, they consult a soothsayer who predicts that the future of theatre lies in a new form where actors sing, dance, and act simultaneously. The production is structured as a broad theatrical satire, drawing on Renaissance drama and twentieth-century musical traditions. The show runs for 120 minutes, including an interval and carries a PG age restriction.

A Little Night Music

Cape Town Opera presents a dazzling evening with Stephen Sondheim’s elegant musical of love, longing, and second chances. Set in turn-of-the-century Sweden, this sumptuous production follows a web of lovers past, present, and hopeful as they navigate the follies of the heart. Featuring one of Sondheim’s most ravishing scores, including the immortal song Send in the Clowns, the show is at once champagne bright and piercingly honest.
